குறளின் குரல் - 106

அல்லவை தேய அறம்பெருகும் நல்லவை

நாடி இனிய சொலின்.

                       (குறள் 96:  இனியவை கூறல் அதிகாரம்)

Transliteration:

Allavai thEya aRamperugum nallavai

nAdi iniya solin

Allavai - deeds that are not good

thEya – will diminish

aRam – virtuous deeds

perugum – will grow

nallavai nAdi – when desiring good to happen

iniya  - sweet words of goodness

solin – when speak

When sweet and meaningful are spoken intendending good things to happen, the virtues in the world will gain strength and grow. Ill will diminish on its own as goodness takes root. There is no other weapon needed to quell evil ill’s designs.

As the virtuous deeds grow, ill will lose its surviving power, and will diminish in strength and eventually will be vanquished is the summary concept put forth through this verse. 

In other words, to be consistently speaking sweet and useful words for others definitely is an effort at first but over a period of time, becomes the trait and innate quality virtue in anybody.

Ill deeds wither whence good ones grow and sail

If sweeter words spoken for goodness to prevail

தமிழிலே:

அல்லவை – நல்லன அல்லாதவை

தேய - குறைந்துபட

அறம் – அறத்தின் வலி

பெருகும் – ஓங்கும், வளரும்

நல்லவை நாடி – நல்லன செயல்கள் நடப்பதற்காய் வேண்டி

இனிய - இனிமை பொருந்திய

சொலின் – சொற்களைப் பேசுவதால்.

நன்மைகள் விளைவதையே நாடியொருவர், இனிய பொருள் பொதிந்த சொற்களை பிறரிடம் சொல்வாரானால், அதனால் அறத்தின் ஓங்கிய வலிமை பெருகும், வளரும். அறமல்லாதனவை வலிமை குன்றி, தாமாகவே மறைந்துவிடும்.  இனிய சொற்களைப் பேசுவதனால் இருக்கும் பொது நன்மையை இக்குறளில் வலியுறுத்தியுள்ளார்.

இனிய பயனுள்ள சொற்களை எப்பொழுதும் சொல்வது முதலில் ஒரு கடிய முயற்சிதான், ஆனாலும் தொடர்ந்து முயலுபவருக்கு அதுவே அவருடை உள்ளுரை பண்பாகிவிடுகிறது. இப்பண்பு ஒவ்வொருவரிடத்தில் வளருமானால், அல்லவை மறையவேண்டியதுதானே!

அறமல்லனவற்றை அழிக்க தகுந்த படைக்கலன் அறச் செயல்களை வளர்ப்பதன் மூலமே. அறச்செயல்கள் வளர வளர மறச்செயல்கள் வலியிழந்து தாமே அழிந்துபடும்.
