நீரும் நிழலது இனிதே புலவியும்
வீழுநர் கண்ணே இனிது.
(குறள் 1309:
புலவி அதிகாரம்)
நீரும் நிழலது இனிதே - நிழலருகில் உள்ள நீரே குளிர்ந்து இனிமையாக இருக்கும்
புலவியும் - ஊடலும்
வீழுநர் கண்ணே - தம்முடைய அன்பில் வீழ்ந்தவர் கண்ணேதான்
இனிது - இனிமையாம்.
நிழலின் இருக்கும் நீரே குளிர்ந்து இனிமையானதாக
இருக்கும். அதேபோன்றே, காதல் தலைவியற்கு தாம் அன்பிற்கு வீழ்ந்தார்கண் ஊடல் கொள்வதே
இனிமையானதாகும். அப்போதே ஊடலுக்குப் பின்வரும் கூடலும் இனிதாக இருக்கும். குளிர்ந்த
நீரே வேட்கைக்கு இனிதாம்போல்; ஊடலால் ஏற்படும் கூடல் வேட்கைக்கு, அன்பர் அருகிருத்தலே இனிதாம்.
Transliteration:
nIrum nizhaladu inidE pulaviyum
vIzunar kaNNE inidu
nIrum nizhaladu inidE –
water body under shade is cool and sweet
pulaviyum – Even love-quarrel
vIzunar kaNNE – with that who has
fallen for
inidu – it is as sweet as that.
The waterbody under shade is cool and
sweet for quenching thirst; likewise with the man she has fallen in love, even
the love-quarrel is sweet, because that quenches the the thirst for sweeter
conjugal union, after that.
“Like the waterbody undershade is cool and sweeter,
is the
love quarrel with the man she has love for!
