பரிந்தவர் நல்காரென்று ஏங்கிப் பிரிந்தவர்
பின்செல்வாய் பேதைஎன் நெஞ்சு.
(குறள் 1248:
நெஞ்சொடு கிளத்தல் அதிகாரம்)
பரிந்து - பிரிந்து வந்தோமே என்று வருந்தி, அதனால்
பரிவும் அன்பும்
அவர் நல்கார்
- அவர் தராமல் இருக்கிறார்
என்று ஏங்கிப் - என்று கழிவிரக்கம் கொண்டு
பிரிந்தவர் பின் - பிரிந்து சென்றவர் பின்னாலேயே அவரைத் தேடிக்கொண்டு
செல்வாய் பேதை - செல்கின்றாயே அறியாதவளாகிய
என் நெஞ்சு - என் நெஞ்சமே!
நெஞ்சமே! என்னைப் பிரிந்து வந்துவிட்டோமே என்று
குற்ற உணர்வில் வருந்தி, அதனால்கூட பரிவும் அன்பும் என்மேல் செலுத்தாத கல் நெஞ்சராக
அவர் உள்ளார். அவர் அவ்வாறு இருக்கவும் நீ,
உன் மேலேயே இரக்கம் கொண்டு, பிரிந்தவர் பின்னாலேயே
செல்கிறாயே, அறியாதவளாகிய என்னுடைய நெஞ்சமே என்று நெஞ்சை நொந்து கூறுகிறார் காதல் வயத்தளாகிய
தலைவி.
Transliteration:
Parindavar nalgArenRu Engip pirindavar
pinselvAi pEdaien nenju
Parind(u) – Not being remorseful about being away
from me, and with concern
avar nalgAr – he would not be affectionate still
enRu Engip – so you crave
pirindavar pin – and behind his beloved who left her
selvAi pEdai – you would go, ignorant
en nenju – my heart.
O! my heart! Being remorseful about leaving
me and feeling guilty, he still does not show his concern and shower love; he
is such a stone-hearted man! When he is so, you dwell in self-pity and still go
behind him O! heart of ignorant self, laments the maiden in love, complaining
to her heart.
“Though he is not remorseful about leaving me and show affection,
you, O my Heart, of
ignorant self, you go after him in love affliction.
