உழுதுண்டு - தம்மோடு, யாவரும்
உண்டு மகிழும் படியாக உழவுத்தொழிலில் ஈடுபட்டு
வாழ்வாரே வாழ்வார் - வாழ்கின்றவரே உண்மையாக தமக்கும் பிறருக்கும்
உரியவராக வாழ்கிறவர்
மற்றெல்லாம் - மற்றவரெல்லாம்
தொழுதுண்டு - அவர்களைத் தொழுது, வணங்கி, தம் உணவுக்காக
அவர்களின்
பின் செல்பவர் - பின்னாலே செல்கின்றவர்.
உழவுத்தொழிலையும், அதைச் செய்வோரையும் உயர்வாகச்
சொல்ல, மிகவும் அதிகமாக மேற்கோளாக எடுத்தாளப்படும் குறள். உழவுத்தொழிலில் ஈடுபட்டு
தம்மோடு, பிறருக்காகவும் விளைவிக்கும் உழவர் பெருமக்களே உண்மையில் தமக்காகவும், பிறருக்காகவும்
வாழ்கின்றவர்கள். மற்றவர்களெல்லாம், அவ்வுழவர் பெருமக்களைத் தொழுது, வணங்கி, தம் உணவுக்காக
அவர்களின் பின்பே செல்லவேண்டியவர்கள்.
Transliteration:
uzhudunDu vAzhvArE vAzhvArmaR RellAm
thozhudunDu pinsel bavar
uzhudunDu – Doing agriculture to produce food for
self and others to ear
vAzhvArE vAzhvAr – that live as such
are the one truly live for self and others
maRRellAm – Others (who do not do agriculture)
thozhudunDu – remain subservient
to farmers to feed themselves
pin selbavar – and go behind them
for their own survival and sustenance
Here is a popular and often quoted verse
to speak about the glory of agricultural professionals and the farmers. The
farmers that produce for themselves and others to eat are the one who truly
live as they live for themselves and others too. Others just remain subservient
to such farmers, looking up to and go behind them for their own survival and
sustenance.
