ஆள்வினையும் ஆன்ற அறிவும் எனவிரண்டின்

நீள்வினையான் நீளும் குடி.

                    (குறள் 1022: குடி செயல்வகை அதிகாரம்)

ஆள்வினையும் - நன்முயற்சியும்

ஆன்ற அறிவும் - ஆழ்ந்த அறிவும்

எனவிரண்டின் - என இரண்டோடு கூடிய

நீள்வினையான் - இடையறா செயலாக்கத்தால்

நீளும் குடி. - ஒருவரது குடி உயரும்.

ஓருவரது நல்ல முயற்சியும், ஆழ்ந்த அறிவும் ஆகிய இரண்டோடும் கூடிய இடையறா செயலாக்கத்தால் ஒருவரது குடி உயரும், என்கிறது இக்குறள். ஆழ்ந்த அறிவோடு கூடிய சீரிய முயற்சியும், தவிர தளராத கருமமாற்றலுமே ஒருவரது குடியானது உயர்த்தும்

Transliteration:

Alvinaiyum AnRa aRivum enaviraNDin

nILvinaiyAn nILum kuDi

Alvinaiyum – good effort

AnRa aRivum – and deep knowledge

enaviraNDin – with these two

nILvinaiyAn – and incessant untiring effort and performance

nILum kuDi – will raise the stature of a persons’ lineage

With the twin attributes of a persons’s good effort and deep knowledge, and his perseverance in performing the dees, a persons’ lineage raises to high stature, says this verse. It is indeed true that,  to get deeds done successfully, a person needs deep knowledge and excellent effort. Apart from those two success ingreidents, one needs untiring effort to get them done successfully. Only such persons lineage will be up in stature.

 What raises the staure of a lineage is a persons’ untiring perseverance
