பிணியின்மை செல்வம் விளைவின்பம் ஏமம்
அணியென்ப நாட்டிவ் வைந்து.

பிணியின்மை - நோயின்மை
செல்வம் - ஆக்கம், பொருளுடைமை
விளைவு - செழிப்பான விவசாயமும், விளைச்சலும்
இன்பம் - மகிழ்ச்சி
ஏமம் - பாதுகாப்பான காவல்
அணியென்ப - அணிகலம்
போன்றன
நாட்டிவ் வைந்து - ஒரு
நாட்டுக்கு இந்த ஐந்தும்
நோயற்ற மக்களும், ஆக்கமாகியச்
செல்வச் செழிப்பும், மக்களின் உணவுத் தேவைகளை நிறைவுசெய்யும் மிகுந்த விளைச்சலும், மக்கள் பொதுவாக மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் இருப்பதும்,
பாதுகாப்பாக உணர்வதும் ஆகிய இவ்வைந்துமே ஒரு நாட்டுக்கு அணி அல்லது அழகு செய்வதாகக்
நூல் வல்லோர்கள் கருதுவர் என்கிறது இவ்வெளிய குறள்.

aNiyenba nATTiv vaindhu
piNiyinmal – disease free
selvam - wealthy
viLaiv(u) – more than required produce production
inbam - happiness
Emam - safety
aNiyenba –the ornaments tha give beauty to the
nATTiv vaindhu – country are these five.
The fiver attributes of a country
that define its beautiy and decorate state are: being disease free, overall wealthy,
excellent and high yielding in agricultural of production, able to keep
citizens happy state always and providing protection and safety to the nation
on the whole – so opine the authors and authority of what a nation is.
