சூழ்ச்சி முடிவு துணிவெய்தல் அத்துணிவு

தாழ்ச்சியுள் தங்குதல் தீது.

                        (குறள் 671: வினைசெயல்வகை அதிகாரம்)

சூழ்ச்சி முடிவு - ஆராய்வதன் முடிவு என்பது

துணிவெய்தல் - ஒரு செயல் ஆற்றலைப்பற்றிய முடிவு

அத்துணிவு - அம்முடிவை எடுத்தபின்

தாழ்ச்சியுள் - அம்முடிவை செயல் படுத்தாமல்

தங்குதல் - நீட்டித்து தாமதம் செய்தல்

தீது - அது தீமையே தரும்

ஒரு செயலைச் செய்யுமுன் அச்செயலைச் செய்வதால் ஏற்படும் விளைவுகள், பயன் இவற்றையெல்லாம் முழுதுமாக ஆராயவேண்டும். அவ்வாராய்ச்சியின் எல்லையில் எடுக்கப்படும் முடிவைத் துணிந்து செயலாற்றவேண்டும். அம்முடிவை செயல்படுத்துவதில் தாமதப்படுத்துவது தீமையே விளைவிக்கும். இக்குறளில் சொல்லப்படும் கருத்து ஒரு செயலைச் செய்தலைப் பற்றியல்ல. எடுத்தமுடிவினில் உறுதியோடு இருந்து எடுத்தமுடிவைச் செயல்படுத்தலே. சில நேரங்களில் செய்யாமலிருப்பதும் செயலென்றே கொள்ளவேண்டும்.

ஒரு செயலைச் செய்வதா, வேண்டாமா என்று முழுவதுமாக ஆராயவேண்டும். ஆராய்ந்தபின், செய்யலாம், வேண்டாம் என்கிற ஏதேனும் ஒரு முடிவு தோன்றும். எம்முடிவாயிருந்தாலும் அதைத் துணிந்து,  நிறைவேற்றவேண்டும். தயக்கமோ, தாமதமோ எதிர் நோக்காத விளைவுகளையும், தீமைகளையும் தந்துவிடும்.

தெரிந்து செயல்வகை அதிகாரத்தில் சொல்லப்படும் கருத்தான “எண்ணித் துணிக கருமம் துணிந்தபின் எண்ணுவம் என்ப திழுக்கு”. இதையொட்டியேதான், என்பதை இங்கு நினைவு கூற வேண்டும்,

Transliteration:

sUzhchi muDivu thuNiveidhal aththuNivu

thAzhchiyuL thangudhal thIdhu

sUzhchi muDivu – the end result of deep inquiry is to

thuNiveidhal – come to a firm conclusion

aththuNivu – once a firm conclusion is reached

thAzhchiyuL – to delay or to hesitate

thangudhal – and stay put without pertinent action

thIdhu – will only bring miserably bad consequences

Before venturing into something, the repurcussions and the benefits must be researched into. The decision made at the end of that research, regardless of how hard it is to implement, must be carried out. Delaying the implementation will only yield unplesant consequences.

This verse does not necessarily say about carrying out a task, but how to be resolute in the decision taken. Sometimes, not doing something is also good because the research points to the bad consequences. Delaying and vacillating are no good.

It is good to recall another popular, well-known verse we have seen earlier, “eNNith thuNiga karumam, thuNindapin eNNuvam enbadhizhukku”, which is allied with this verse.

“Deep consulting and inquiry are needed to engage in any act

 Delaying of any sort,after, only will result in miserable fault”
