பசந்தாள் இவள்என்பது அல்லால் இவளைத்

துறந்தார் அவர்என்பார் இல்.

பசந்தாள் இவள் - இவளுக்குப் பசலை படர்ந்தது

என்பது அல்லால் - என்று எல்லோரும் சொல்கிறார்களே அன்றி

இவளைத் துறந்தார் அவர் - அதற்கு காரணமாய் அவர் இவளை நீங்கிச் சென்றார்

என்பார் இல் - என்று அவரைக் குறை கூறுபவர் ஒருவரும் இல்லையே

எல்லோரும் இவளுக்குப் பசலைப் படர்ந்தது என்று என்னைப் பற்றி பேசுகிறார்களே அன்றி, அதற்கு காரணமாய், அவர் என்னை விட்டுச் சென்றார் என்று அவரைக் குற்றம் கூறுவார் ஒருவரும் இல்லையே என்று, ஊரார் ஆண்மகன்பால் ஒருபட்சமாக இருப்பதை நொந்து கூறுகிறாள் காதற்தலைவி.

Transliteration:

pasandAL ivaLenpadu allAl ivaLaith

tuRandAr avarenbAr il

pasandAL ivaL – The talk that she has shallowness,

enpadu allAl – other than that

ivaLaith tuRandAr avar – (finding fault in him) that he has left her

enbAr il – there is no

“She has shallowness and grown pale in hue”, talks the people of the town about me; but none seems to notice that he has left me or find fault with him for leaving, which is the very reason for this condition of mine, complains the maiden. She hints at the people being one sided in their gossip about her paling.

“Everyone speaks that about my growing pale in hue

 But none faults him for leaving me in this state, true!”
