தாமின் புறுவது உலகின் புறக்கண்டு


காமுறுவர் கற்றறிந் தார்.                                                     

                        (குறள் 399: கல்வி அதிகாரம்)

Transliterartion:

thAmin buRuvadhu ulagin buRakkaNDu

kAmuRuvar kaRRaRin dhAr

thAminbuRuvadhu – Knowing that knowledge gives happiness to self

ulaginbuRakkaNDu – and that happiness percolates down to others (by sharing)

kAmuRuvar – Will desire more to learn and share

kaRRaRindhAr – erudite scholars.

This verse expresses a very simple beautiful thought. Happiness earned by giving to others known no bounds. “yAm petRa inbam peRuka ivvayagam” (thirumanthiram 85) is a often quoted line. When a scholar realizes the greatness of knowledge acquired by him is causing happiness to others in the world, the desire to learn more to share will continue to propel them in the path of knowledge pursuit.

Only when such flawless learning will give the mind set to see others happiness and desires to give more of that happiness to others always.

“Seeing own happiness of education also spreads, gives others happiness

 The erudite will seek to acquire more knowledge to share with eagerness”

தமிழிலே:

தாம் இன்புறுவது - தனக்கு இன்பம் பயப்பதாம் கல்வியினால்

உலகு இன்புறக்கண்டு
 - உலகோரும் இன்புறுகிறார்கள் (அக்கல்வியை உலகோருடன் பகிர்ந்து கொள்ளும் போது) என்று காணும் போது

காமுறுவர் - மிகுந்த விருப்பமுறுவர் மேன்மேலும் கற்பதற்கும், பிறரோடு பகிர்ந்து கொள்வதற்கும்

கற்றறிந்தார் - கல்வியிலே சிறந்த பெரியோர்.

இக்குறள் ஒரு எளிய கருத்தை மிகவும் அழகாகச் சொல்கிறது. ஈவதினால் வரும் உவகையும், “யாம்பெற்ற இன்பம் பெருகயிவ் வையகம்” (திருமந்திரப்பாடல் 85) என்கிற எண்ணத்தையும் ஒருங்கே தரவல்லத்து, ஒருவர் தாம் இது உண்மை, இம்மைக்கும் மறுமைக்கும் இன்பம் தரவல்ல அருஞ்செல்வம் என்று அறியும் கல்விச் செல்வம்தாம். கற்றறிந்ததினால் தமக்கேற்படும் உவகையும், அதை மற்றோரோடு பகிர்ந்து கொள்ளும்போது, அவர்களுக்கு ஏற்படும் உவககையுமே கற்றோரை மேலும் கற்பதற்கு விருப்பமூட்டுவதாம்.  

மற்றோரின் உவகை கரும்புதின்ன கூலி கொடுத்தது போலாய ஊக்கமாகிறது கற்றவர்களுக்கு. இதனால் பழுதறக் கற்றோர்க்கே மற்றவரது இன்பத்தில் உவக்கின்ற குணமும், அவ்வின்பத்தை பிறர்க்கு மேலும் அளிக்கவேண்டுமென்கிற எண்ணமும் தோன்றும் என்பதும் தெளிவாகிறது.

கல்வியிலே நாட்டமிகும் அவ்வின்பம் மற்றோர்க்கும்

நல்குதலால் கல்விசிறந் தோர்க்கு
