பொருட்பெண்டிர் பொய்ம்மை முயக்கம் இருட்டறையில்

ஏதில் பிணந்தழீஇ அற்று

                                           (குறள் 913: வரைவில் மகளிர் அதிகாரம் )

பொருட்பெண்டிர் - ஒருவரை விரும்பாது, அவர்தரும் பொருள்மேலே நாட்டம் கொண்ட விலைமாதர்

பொய்ம்மை - பாசாங்கான

முயக்கம் - தழுவலும், அணைப்பும்

இருட்டறையில் - ஒளியில்லாத அறையிலே

ஏதில் - காரணமே இல்லாமல்

பிணந்தழீஇ அற்று - ( முன்னமே அறிந்திராத ஒரு) பிணத்தைத் தழுவியதற்கு ஒப்பாகும்

ஒருவருமேல் உண்மையான அன்போடு அவரை விரும்பாமல், அவரது பொருள்மேலே நாட்டம் கொண்ட விலைமாதரின் பாசாங்கான தழுவலும், அணப்பும், ஒளியில்லாத அறையிலே காரணமே இல்லாமல், முன்பின் தெரியாத ஒரு பிணத்தைத் தழுவியதற்கு ஒப்பாகும், என்கிறது இக்குறள். சாவு வீட்டிலே முன்பின் தெரியாத பிணத்தைத் தழுவி சிலர் காசுக்காக ஒப்பாரி வைப்பர். உண்மையில் அவர்களுக்கும், இறந்தவருக்கும், அல்லது அவர் குடும்பத்தினருக்கும் ஒருவித தொடர்பும் இராது. அத்தகையவரைப் போன்றோரே விலைமாதரும் - காசுக்காகக் கட்டிப்பிடித்து முயங்குவர்; அதில் உண்மையான அன்பு இராது.

poruTpeNDir – women who sell physical pleasures for money

poimmai – their false

muyakkam – embrace of physical pleasure

iruTTaraiyil – in the dark room

Edhil – without a reason

piNanthazIi aRRu – embracing a dead corpse

Without true love for a person, having interest only in how much they pay, the embrace of physical pleasure from women that sell sex for money, is like embracing a dead body in the dark room without knowing the dead person. In death houses, there are people that come and cry for money, without being connected either to the dead person or the dead person's relatives. Such is the nature of women that sell their body for money; they have no real affection.
