71: (Reading Rulers Mind - குறிப்பறிதல்)

[To read a rulers mind and act accordingly are required traits for administrators and ministers that work with him on a daily basis. Such ministers are true assets of a ruler and serve as a close confidante to a ruler. This chapter also discusses a ruler responsibility to keep such ministers close to him]

கூறாமை நோக்கிக் குறிப்பறிவான் எஞ்ஞான்றும்

மாறாநீர் வையக் கணி.

                        (குறள் 701: மன்னரைச் சேர்ந்தொழுகல் அதிகாரம்)

கூறாமை நோக்கிக் - ஆள்வோன் கூறாமலேயே

குறிப்பறிவான் - அவன் உள்ளக் கிடக்கையை அறிந்து ஆற்றுவோன்

எஞ்ஞான்றும் - எப்போதும்

மாறா நீர் - நீர்வளம் குறையாத

வையக்கு  அணி - உலகத்துக்கு பூணும் நகையன்னவன்

இக்குறளில் வையத்துக்கு என்பது சிதைந்து வையக்கு என்று ஆளப்பட்டுள்ளது. நீர் வளம் குறையாத என்றதால், அறம் நிறைந்த வளமுள்ள நாடு என்பது குறிப்பால் உணர்த்தப்படுகிறது.அத்தகைய நாட்டிற்கு, ஆள்வோனின் மனக்குறிப்பை அறிந்து செயலாற்றும் அமைச்சர் பூணுகின்ற அணிமணியைப் போன்றவர்.

கம்பராமாயணக் காட்சியொன்று, திருவடி தொழுத படலத்தில் வருவது. அனுமான் இலங்கையிலிருந்து வந்ததும் செய்தியைச் சொல்லி, தென்னிலங்கை திசை நோக்கித் தொழுததால், சீதையின் கற்புநெறியையும் குறிப்பால் இராமன் உணர்ந்ததை இப்பாடல் சொல்கிறது.

திண்திறல் அவன் செயல் தெரிய நோக்கினான்;
'

வண்டு உறை ஓதியும் வலியள்; மற்று இவன்


கண்டதும் உண்டு;அவள் கற்பும் நன்று' எனக்


கொண்டனன்,குறிப்பினால் உணரும்
  கொள்கையான்.

இராமன் குறிப்பால் உணர்ந்தாலும், குறிப்பால் உணர்த்தியது அனுமனே அன்றோ?

ஔவையும் மூதூரையில், “அவைநடுவே நீட்டோலை வாசியா நின்றான் குறிப்பறிய மாட்டாதவன் நல் மரம்” என்பார்.

Transliteration:

kURAmai nOkkik kuRippaRivAn ennjAnRum

mARAnIr vaiyak kaNi

kURAmai nOkkik – Without the ruler hinting or telling openly

kuRippaRivAn –that who reads what is in his mind and acts accordingly

ennjAnRum- always

mARA nIr – never depleted in water resources

vaiyak(ku) kaNi - like a jewel for such a prosperous state

A minister that understands what is in the mind of his ruler and acts accordingly without being hinted or told, is like a jewel to the properous state with never depeleting water resources.

KambaramAyam depicts a beautiful scene in “ThiruvaDi thozhudha paDalam”, where Rama understands the hint given by Hanuman as he salutes looking in the the direction of Sri Lanka where Seetha is held captive, that his beloved is safe with her chastity intact.

AuvayyAr calls such a person in the rules court as a tree without any movement.

“One who reads his rulers mind and desires to act

 without, his hint or being told is like a jewel of state”
