குறளின் குரல் - 527

நாடோறும் நாடுக மன்னன் வினைசெய்வான்

கோடாமை கோடா துலகு.

                             (குறள் 520: தெரிந்து வினையாடல் அதிகாரம்)

Transliteration:

nADOrum nADuga mannan vinaiseivAn

kODAmai kODA dulagu

nADOrum – every day

nADuga mannan – ruler must keep vigil (in what)

vinaiseivAn – in people that work under him

kODAmai – not to go astray in their functioning or honesty

kODAd(u) ulagu – if such is the governance, the world under him will behave properly

When the administration’s workforce is honest and sincere to their work, the rule of the administration and the people under that administration will be prosperous and honest too.  So the administration must keep a vigil on its subjects to keep them in the path of honesty and discipline with respect to their work. “as the subjects raise in their stature, so will the ruler” is an old adage. This can be fit aptly in to the context of this verse too.

Another adage, “ As is the king so are the subjects”, tells when the rule’s scepter, the symbol of authority and justice is held unbent, the subjects will live a life of honesty and dignity as their virtues. After all, the ruler is doing the duty or job of governing his subjects. If the ruler is honest in his job, so will his subjects in their respective duties and jobs.

“A ruler must keep vigil of his work force every day

 As their honesty will keep the ruled land that way “

தமிழிலே:

நாடோறும் - தினமும்

நாடுக மன்னன் - ஆள்வோர் கவனத்துடன் இருக்க வேண்டும் (எதில்)

வினைசெய்வான் - தனக்குக் கீழ் பணிபுரிபவர்களின்

கோடாமை - நேர்மையும், ஒழுங்கும், கோணாமை, தவறாமை

கோடாது உலகு - அவ்வாறு ஒழுகின், அவன் ஆளுகின்ற உலகும் தவறாக இயங்காது

தனக்குக்கீழ் பணிபுரிவர்கள் தவறான பாதையில் செல்லாது, நேர்மையும், ஒழுங்குடனும் பணிசெய்ய, ஒரு அரசின் குடைகீழ் இருக்கும் நாடும், நேர்மையுடன் இருக்கும். ஆதலால் ஒரு அரசன் தனக்குக்கீழ் பணிபுரிவர்களை நேர்மையும், ஒழுங்கும் உள்ளவர்களாக இருக்க தினமும் கண்காணிக்க வேண்டும். “குடி உயரக் கோன் உயரும்” என்ற வாக்கினை இங்கு, கீழே இருக்கும் பணிபுரிவர்களின் நேர்மையிலே பொருத்திப் பார்க்கலாம்.

“அரசன் எவ்வழி குடிகள் அவ்வழி” என்ற முதுமொழியின் படி, அரசின் செங்கோல் கோணாதிருந்தால் குடிகளும் நேர்வழியில் இருப்பர். அரசனும் காக்கும் தொழிலாகிய வினையைச் செய்கிறவன்தானே!  அவனே நேர்மையாயிருந்தால், அவனுடைய குடிமக்களும் அவரவர் ஆற்றும் வினைகளிலே நேர்மையாகத்தான் இருப்பர்.

வினைவல்லார் நேர்மையினை நாளுமாள்வோர் காக்கும்

வினையாலே வாழும் உலகு
